PRZYSTAŃ MALUCHA - a nursery website in Rumia without a single cookie
Nursery / Childcare / Education
A static brochure site for a private nursery in Rumia: 7 URLs, hand-written HTML and CSS, zero dependencies, zero framework. Zero cookies and zero analytics across the whole site - the Google map is only injected after the visitor clicks a button, so the consent banner is genuinely unnecessary rather than hidden. Includes the statutory Child Protection Standards in both a full and a simplified version.
About the project
Przystan Malucha is a private nursery in Rumia, at ul. Debogorska 78 lok. A. The nursery previously had a subscription website from an outside provider, with the domain registered to that provider rather than to the owner. When the subscription ended, the site went dark together with the domain and the nursery disappeared from search results, losing whatever authority the old address had built. The new site runs on zlobekrumia.pl, an exact match for the most common local query ("zlobek Rumia" - nursery in Rumia), and this time the domain belongs to the client. We built it as a hand-written static site: seven URLs (homepage plus the complete Child Protection Standards in four views, a privacy policy and a cookie notice), CSS organised into cascade layers, the Fraunces typeface self-hosted, zero libraries and zero framework. The site sets no cookies at all and carries no analytics, and the Google map is only injected after the visitor clicks a button, so before consent the browser never connects to Google. That removed the need for a consent banner instead of hiding one. Measured on 06.11.2026: the 21.7 kB homepage HTML ships as 7.3 kB over the wire with brotli, all seven URLs return 200, and a URL that does not exist returns 404.
“A site that never had to ask about cookies, because it does not set a single one.”
Challenge
The nursery was starting from zero, and in a worse sense than "a new business without a website". The previous site had been built on a subscription from an outside provider, with the domain registered to the provider rather than the owner - when the site was switched off, the entire address went with it, along with everything Google knew about it. Visibility had to be rebuilt on a new address, in a way that could not repeat itself. The second layer is statutory: a nursery must publish Child Protection Standards (the Polish act of 13 May 2016 on counteracting sexual-offence threats, as amended by what is colloquially called the Kamilek act), in a full version for adults and a simplified version a child can understand. The third: a parent looking for a nursery usually does it from a phone, in a hurry, and wants the address, opening hours, prices and a phone number within seconds. Anything that loads, asks for consent, or can quietly stop working is a cost here, not a feature.
Solution
A hand-written static site, no CMS and no framework, so there is nothing in it that needs patching against vulnerabilities. The identity is derived from the client's logo: a nautical palette of navy, red and light blue, with the Fraunces typeface self-hosted as woff2 (no Google Fonts, so no third-party server is queried on every visit). CSS is organised into cascade layers so later fixes do not turn into a specificity auction. The Google map is not embedded permanently - a button stands in its place and the iframe is created only on click, which means no request reaches Google before the parent decides. No analytics, no pixels, no cookies: verified from the response headers on all seven URLs and on the static files. The Child Protection Standards got their own hub with three sub-pages: the full version, a simplified version for children, and a separate help page with numbers a child or parent can call. JSON-LD structured data of type ChildCare carries the full NAP and opening hours, so Google and language models read the address, phone and hours from one place instead of guessing them from the copy. There is deliberately no contact form - phone and e-mail remain, two channels that cannot quietly stop delivering messages.
Results & Features
- Seven live URLs, each checked separately - all return 200, and a URL that does not exist returns 404 (the positive control, without which a bare "200" proves nothing)
- Zero cookies across the whole site, confirmed by the absence of a Set-Cookie header on the pages and on the static files
- Zero analytics and zero third-party requests before the visitor clicks the map button
- The complete Child Protection Standards (hub, full version, simplified version for children, help page) - the statutory duty met with real content, not a link to a PDF
- JSON-LD ChildCare structured data with the full NAP and opening hours
- 21.7 kB of homepage HTML, 7.3 kB over the wire with brotli
- Fraunces self-hosted - zero connections to Google Fonts
- The zlobekrumia.pl domain is an exact match for the "zlobek Rumia" query and is registered to the client, not to the contractor
- No contact form, by design - phone and e-mail cannot quietly stop delivering messages
Technologies
Visual character: A nautical palette taken from the logo: navy, red and light blue on a light background, Fraunces in the headings. Calm and human.
